Ek Shaayar ki Shyaam...

Hamaare jeene ki wajah banke, hamaari tanhaayiyaan bhi churaake...yun jannat mein le gaye woh..
Hamaare dil lahoo mein baskar, apni bekhudi ko dekar, hamaari shaam bhi le gaye woh...

Humne to bass sirf unka deedaar hi chaaaha tha...
Hamein apne aashiqon se bhi zyaada tadapta dekh, bas apni muskuraahat de gaye woh...

Dil Se...

Hamaari rehguzar se woh yun hi guzar jaati hain....
Hum unhe dekhte, woh hamein dekhtein, aur bass baat wahin thahar jaati hai...

Responsibility and IIT'ians

Hmmm.... I was keeping a close watch on the recently held Pan IIT conference Mumbai. While the conference was aimed at discussing the contributions of IIT'ians to their country and furthar trying to help their motherland, I came across a large number of articles in newspapers and speeches made that IIT'ians haven't done enough compared to what was expected from them. People described IIT alumni as 'India's Exports' to countries like US. Critics even wrote that the Indian govt spends money on their education and they fly away abroad working for a foreign company and sometimes not even bothering to do a little for their own alma mater.

Hey... comeon... Why target the people from IIT's ?? Why pinpoint these guys in their early twenties who are generally from middle class familes and want to make a life for themselves. Their father has not left aside a million dollars for them that they start working for social upliftment forgetting their careers and their families. I mean most of them had been through very rough times and always looked for the day when they see a bright future for themselves.
Why convict these people who have nothing with them apart from their confidence partly coz of their IIT degrees.

Isnt it the responsibility of each and every Indian to help make their country progress. Why do people forget cricketers, why do they forget film actors, why do they forget multi crore business houses for who ' a million' here or there does not even matter. No one ever questions their contribution to the Indian society. The pinnacle of their contribution can be seen in the form of mere inaugration of functions of NGO's or may be have a photograph or two with such societies. People never seem to ask that what does SachinTen. do of the multi million dollar deals he signs with MNC's. People rarely seem to protest the scams commited by politicians, that's a robbery in my eyes. That is what you expect from them. Theare supposed to work for the society, to address their grievances and fulfill people wants and they never seem to do that. No one ever questions them. And Why ?? Just because we have become used to it. We take it for granted that they won't do anything.

On the other hand, think of a student who goes abroad to study and later does a lucrative job there. People start coining words like 'Brain drain' and the like. They do astounding work, if not directly for their country; but sooner or later it does add to India's development.

I once remember one of my Humanities teacher accusing us of not doing anything for the underpriviliged around. I thought of asking her right away .. " Are the people who are supposed to work for their development doing anything . Why don't you go and ask them to do their job rather than yelling here infront of students who have to cope up with their studies. I, in fact even wanted to ask her that what has she done for the poor ones.

At the end of all this, I am not trying to play a 'blame game' here and trying to escape from my responsibilties by giving the above arguments. I just want to reiterate on the point that we should stop blaming young students for lack of social awareness and try addressing the more experienced and responsible people.

What were the IIT profs doing when the the students everywhere had actually come to the roads to protest against quota in educational institutions. Apart from a few profs, no one even commented on the ridiculous rules being grafted by out eccentric representatives in the parliament. I can very well imagine the sad plight of our education standards when present quota of around 20 percent will be increased to 50%. Could the govt have even dared to think of all this moronic stuff, had the IIT profs objected, may be announce a mass resignation or something. Everyone knows of the difficulty in implenting this quota, everyone knows that there is no logical reasoning behind this, apart from increasing the vote bank. But all of are mute. Or may be the legal orders have barred us from protesting.

No more of writing about females man ! Enough of it . . .
There are many more things to write about and frankly speaking, I don't have any more content in my head to write about them...
Hope to write something intellectual next time !

No one, but me

Well … the kind of person I am, I feel like I don’t know the most basic and fundamental things in life. I feel like I donno things which everyone does because no one ever asks them. And one of the most significant among those is … again coming to Girls … How do you decide who is going to be your girlfriend. ??

To me it appears to be a very logical and a daunting question.. I mean there are at least hundreds of them you see everyday.. so how do you choose or select THE one. In case you choose one, you might feel you are loosing the other. ( Yah… I believe in one at a time) Whenever I have such questions I generally refer to my trustworthy male friends. This time I went with a more confident look… so that they don’t call me a moron again. “ Come on da . . . Don’t you have better things to ponder about” was the first reply I received. “ Ok.. dost.. I’ll tell you….” was the second pleasing optimistic one.

“Look … the kind of place you are in… that is IIT , you don’t have choices right! You have to select from a limited range. So you should be satisfied with whatever you get.. coz.. there are so many who don’t get anything” he said like a ubiquitous and omniscient person. “How preposterous !!! ” I thought for a while. Girls are not like food and clothes where you can define things like “limited range” and “whatever you get” level stuff. I am atleast sensible to this extent. I never asked this question to anyone else and waited for THE person to answer me.

I met this person in the form of one of my ole friends, who is in IITD now. Well this chap is all settled in life, all fundaes clear and everything already prepared; as I discovered over a period of time staying in his hostel with him. So one fine night, I dared to ask it to him. He chuckled, like a vamp does but opened his philanthropic lips “ Think of someone you know even a bit, someone for who you atleast randomly feel or once felt something. Talk to her for a while. Try staying in touch with her. Try to understand her. Try spending more and more time with her and gradually you’ll realize if she is fit for you or may be if you are fit for her.”

"Yah.. Got it …", I gasped non expressively. “This seems to be the perfect algorithm dude ...”, I thanked him. Everything logical and in sequence. I slept that night more peacefully than Edison would have after discovering the filament for the electric bulb.

Next day… I got up with a sense of anxiety and fulfillness. I thought over the entire process again. But my grey matter discovered a major loophole in the entire design. The problem was 'Processing time'. Assuming you know 23 girls for who you “atleast randomly feel or once felt something” and you apply the above algorithm. Just imagine the amount of time it’s going to take. It might also happen that you do not reach the last few as others having better algos might have already secured their goals. It might happen that understanding some female might take helluva time. It might happen that… It might happen that... !!! A lot of non anticipated events might happen.

So here I am today, still hoping to receive the flawless solution. Any “sensible” comments or suggestions, please write here or mail me.

Females !!!

As you go ahead in your college life, you start realizing that some of your male friends have started spending lesser time with you. They are no more the guys who would for hours and hours sit and fart with you. And one fine day you see one of them sitting with a female who probably you know, in the library or may be the canteen. You don’t say anything to them but just move on, mostly because you don’t know what to say.

You come back to your hostel and wait for him to return. He comes and you try to look at him with an artificial normal look. Somehow, you get the nerve and aaasssk him about her. He says ‘ She’s my girlfriend dude..’ and walks away as if he is too busy and I am nothing more than a pos.

Girlfriend !!! who the hell is she supposed to be. I had heard of such females only in movies and books and never knew they existed in reality too. ‘Learning should not stop in the classroom itself’ ; you should try to learn wherever you are and whatever you can. Ok, so there I was a 19 year old then, who had just heard of this exciting phenomenon in nature called girlfriends. So what are girlfriends supposed to be, what are you supposed to do with them and most importantly... why.

“Macha… why do you need a girlfriend” I asked one of my friends who I believe knows everything in this world… if not everything then atleast a trillion times more than me. After looking at me ghastly like a saint for a while, he starts putting forth his hypothesis about a newly discovered subcategory of females called girlfriends. So here he goes :

“ The most common reason why a male wants to have a girlfriend is to show other males that he has one. No one can deny it… But this is just for the beginning. Gradually he realizes that Hey! Come on… everyone thing in life is not JEE and CGPA where you have to compete in a rat race just to be a winner.”

“So what happens when he realizes it” was my next prompt and inquisitive reply.

“ Wellll….” He continued..” He realizes this pretty soon and begins understanding that he needs her not just to boast around, but to share all the pains and merries he experiences in his ‘monotonous’ and ‘too ordinary’ a life. So ‘moral support’ and ‘sharing your feelings’ are the main reason in the long run my boy", he replied.

“But but… even your parents and your non female friends can do that … right ! So why a female friend… “ was my next innocent question.

And “ Go away.. You are a moron … I got better things to do than guiding idiots like you…” was his bludgeoning reply.

“Oh gosh “ I got up and returned. Yeah ! but at the end of the day, I felt as if I had pretty much understood what I had intended to.
